Elite Force SL14 Speed Loader

Here I review the latest speed loader from Elite Force: The SL14. New to the UK, having been available in the United States for approximately a year now, I was lucky enough to have one sent over to me from the awesome guys over at Armex. So what makes this speed loader stand out above the rest? Read on and all shall be revealed!

Check out my video review of the Elite Force SL14 Speed Loader, right here.

So first things first, what set’s this speed loader apart from the other standard M4 Magazine style speed loader. Firstly there is the capacity. At the front of this speed loader there is a large bb chamber capable of holding an impressive 1,800 bbs, which is a vast improvement on the approximate capacity of 450 bbs you generally get in the standard style speed loaders. Not only that but there is a large spring loaded trap door for ease of filling. Secondly, because of that larger size, you get 40 bb’s per pump of the slide, compared to 4 bbs with every push of the trigger on a normal speed loader. Three pumps using the Elite Force SL14, and you’ve got a full, 120 round, mid cap magazine, and that, can save you a great deal of time!

To load your magazines you simply insert your empty mid or low cap into the inverted magazine well, the same as you would into your gun, then tilt the speed loader forwards, depress the loading trigger at the front, and then tilt the speed loader backwards. Release the loading trigger and pump the slide to the rear, loading 40 rounds into yourelite force sl14 bb chamber magazine. Then you simply push the pump slide forward again and repeat. Easy as that!

In timed tests I was able to fill 5, 120 round mid cap magazines, 1.5 minutes faster than using a standard magazine. Now, that may not seem like a lot of time, but in this game, it can mean the world of difference, especially if the enemy are bearing down on your spawn area.

The only thing that can be faulted on this speed loader is it’s size. It’s almost the same size as a pump action shotgun, and even incorporates a pistol grip for ease of use. The down side to this though, is that it’s not the sort of speed loader that can be carried around with you “on the field”. In fact, when Elite Force first showed this product off, they suggested it be used at the re-spawn, and for that it is perfect. And don’t worry if you’ve spotted it’s designed for M4 style magazines. Magazine adapters for other platforms will be available soon!

Overall this is a great speed loader and is something I will definitely be picking up for myself when it eventually drops (fingers crossed for a March 2015 release). It’s quicker than a standard magazine and only gets quicker with the more magazines you fill. Yes it is quite a bit larger, but it’s not designed for carrying in game, so fits perfectly in line with it’s actual design: The easy and fast reloading of multiple magazines at your spawn.

Keep an eye out for further updates on the release date and price!
