Red 1 Airsoft, The School Site Review

So a couple of weeks back myself and some of the guys from the Vikings and London Ghosts airsoft teams visited Red 1 Airsoft’s site The School. The morning started well, but ended with my first time leaving a site early due to frustration.

First Impressions of the Site

First impressions of the site were good. It is set in and old school building and has an indoor safe zone, plenty of parking and good facilities. The staff and owner were all friendly and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere. Finding the site is easy enough, the directions are on their website, and as said, there is ample parking.

Battlegrounds

The game zone area at Red 1 Airsoft’s The School is compact and fast paced. The playing area consists of a school yard containing lots of barricades and and a three story building with 3 entrances, three staircases and plenty of rooms. One of the things that impressed me about this site is that they move around all the internal and external barricades every few months creating a constantly changing environment.

Games

Game wise throughout the day we played the usual clear objectives games, switching around after the game was won or lost. Another game we played involved there being three snipers firing from the second floor windows into the courtyard. Our team’s objective were to take out the three snipers. The snipers could engage us as we crossed the courtyard while the rest of the enemy team defended the inside of the buildings. The game was won when we took out all three snipers and then we swapped over. The final game played involved both teams attempting to grab gold bars from all around the site and returning them to your corresponding spawn. Unfortunately, it was during this game that we decided to leave.

Leaving Early

As mentioned earlier we decided to leave early, a first for me, due to the frustration of non hit taking and blind firing. Now I want to make clear that the game site itself is brilliant. I can’t fault it at all. Unfortunatley though, as you can see a few times in the video below, there were multiple cases of non-hit taking including guys on our team, with grenade kills being the biggest culprit and it just got worse as the day went on. It was this that ruined the day for us and caused us to leave early.

Conclusion

As said already, the game site at Red 1 Airsoft’s The School is great. It’s perfect for fast paced CQB battling and is great fun. The facilities are good, easy to get to, plenty of parking and the staff are friendly. The day I played, cheating was prominent and got worse as the hours went by, causing me and the group I was with to leave early. It could have just been an off day for the site, in terms of player quality there, but speaking to a regular player, who coincidentally decided to leave early too, it seems that this level of player may unfortunately be the norm. I’ll definitely give the site another go at some point in the future for comparison as it’s difficult to completely judge an airsoft site on one day, but it won’t be any time soon.

Verdict: A great site, poor level of sportsmanship on our day unfortunately.
